Every year around the end of November to mid-December, the WCB Alberta premium rate statement is released. This document tells employers in Alberta who have a registered WCB account, how much they will pay for WCB coverage the next year.
Depending on your company, the increase to your WCB rates could cost you a lot of money. For those industries that rely on low WCB premiums to bid work, a surcharge can devastate profits while a discount can put you in position to get a great contract.
Do I need special permission to access my WCB Alberta Premium Rate Statement?
The Workers Compensation Board of Alberta created an online portal for employers to access various account and claim related reports. They call it “myWCB.”
To get a copy of your WCB premium rate statement you will need to have an account with “mywcb” or know someone in your company that has access to your company “mywcb” account.
Without your own “myWCB” account, you may need to speak with the person in your organization that does have access to pull the reports for you.
If you’d like your own account, you will need to sign up using the link below.
I’ve made a FREE eBook you can download with the same instructions you’ll find in this blog. I’ve included information to help you read and understand you rate statement better.

If you have a UserID and Password then put it in and click sign in.
3. When you log in, you will see 3 tabs like so:
4. When you move your mouse over the middle tab “My Claims and Costs” a drop down box will appear.
Near the bottom you will see “View my claim and premium reports”. You want to click this link.
5. When you click this link a new window will appear and you will see a screen that looks like an excel spreadsheet.
Notice the blue line under this chart that says “Report Filter” and near the right side a “+” sign.
You will want to click this.
6. When you click the “+” sign you will see the following new area appear.
Click the drop box in “Report name”
7. Select “Employer Premium Rate Statement” and press “search”
8. The chart at the top will only bring up the rate statements.
Select the one with the year you want to review.
9. It will appear as a new PDF for you to review.
The WCB Alberta Premium Rate Statement will open as a PDF. You will have the opportunity to review it and I recommend downloading or saving a copy for your records.
Depending on your company and the size, your WCB Alberta Premium Rate statement may look different.
This is ok.
What’s important once you have this premium rate statement is what to do with it and who to involve. Realistically, you want to include anyone in senior management or ownership. They need to know what is going on in their company and where costs are going.
You want to include the person that’s also managing WCB claims for your company internally. (If it’s not you.) They need to be able to read these reports and identify ways to improve the organization from a WCB claims management perspective.
If you’re having difficulty understanding or making sense of your WCB premium rate statement you can look to download our FREE eBook by clicking here.
You can also choose to contact me directly. I’d be happy to walk you through each section and help identify any areas of concern.
